Current Projects
The majority of our funded projects have been focused on observing and understanding the role of the Southern Ocean and the Southern Hemisphere winds in the global carbon cycle, the global climate and the global response to anthropogenic forcing. Global climate models and Earth system models are the only “crystal ball” we have, and a significant fraction of my research has been devoted to developing “observationally-based metrics” to assess, compare and refine these simulations. We have also received additional funding to assess glacial evidence documenting the “big, fast & global” response at the end of the last ice age.
